Cardi B was only the latest music star to be hit with a projectile on stage when a drink doused her from the audience at Drai’s BeachClub on the Las Vegas Strip on Saturday.

But she became the first music star to strike back.

A drink-drenched Cardi B, backdropped by the Bellagio, is shown in mid-microphone hurl in the first reported case of a performer retaliating for an object thrown from the audience. The incident occurred at Drai’s on Saturday, July 29. (Image: TikTok)

Harry Styles, Pink, and Drake have all found themselves in similarly unpleasant predicaments in recent  weeks, but all kept their cool. Not Cardi B. The headliner, her sheer orange dress a soaked mess, hurled her microphone at the offender while performing her 2018 hit “Bodak Yellow.”

As shown below, TMZ combined the Twitter video with a TikTok that pulled 57 million views as of Sunday morning.

Cardi B — not even embarassed that the backup track revealed her voice continuing to sing without her participation — saw the incident not only as an opportunity to exact sweet revenge, but also to promote her rapper-husband Offset’s music.

She retweeted video of the incident herself, titling it “Jealous Ass Bitch,” an apparent reference to Offset’s new song, “Jealousy,” on which Cardi B features.

It is not clear whether Cardi B’s microphone connected with its intended target. As of Sunday morning, no charges were filed or arrests made. However, Cardi B would have a difficult case if the UK’s Daily Mail is to believed. Its report on the incident claimed that she actually “asked fans to throw water on her as she complained about the excessive heat in Sin City.”

By the way, not that it’s any excuse, but fans at that outdoor show reportedly had to bake for two hours in 112 degrees before the headliner showed up to perform.

Cardi B’s method of retaliation is becoming a bad habit for the rapper, who was born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar 30 years ago. It was actually the second microphone she flung to make a point this weekend in Vegas.

On Friday at Drai’s, as revealed in this viral TikTok video, Cardi B also launched a microphone at her DJ after performing her 2018 hit “I Like It.” According to a commenter on the video, she was unhappy that her songs were being cut off too early.

Throw Business

Audience members hurling objects from the stage has becoming an alarming new method of audience interactivity.

On July 20, rapper Drake took a vape pen to the body at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. And last month, singer Pink was pelted by the bagged cremains of a fan’s mother while performing in London.

Also in June, Harry Styles was beaned in the face by an unknown object while performing in Austria. This was less than a month after his face caught a bouquet of flowers in the UK.

Last November, Styles was also the victim of an orange Skittle to the eye, which prompted the candy manufacturer to tweet: “Didn’t think I needed to say this: Please don’t throw Skittles.”

The only serious injury sustained (so far) was a black eye and stitches received by country singer Bebe Rexha after being being clocked with a mobile phone in New York in June.

Earlier this month, resident Caesars Palace singer Adele railed the trend with an apparently only-half-joking threat.

“I (expletive) dare you to throw something at me,” she told her audience. “I’ll (expletive) kill you!”
