As Celtics fanatics — lowercase “f” — file into the TD Garden in Boston Thursday night for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals, some of them will have the option of betting with Fanatics — capital “F” — on their phone.

Fanatics Sportsbook, which was previously available in a limited capacity in Tennessee and Ohio, has entered its third state. The mobile app launched in Massachusetts Thursday for beta testing for select existing Fanatics customers.

As in Ohio and Tennessee, Fanatics Sportsbook will be rolled out gradually in Massachusetts. The first step is beta testing that is available by invitation only. Eligible customers on the Fanatics apparel mailing list will receive a code providing access to the mobile book. Those who aren’t Fanatics customers but want to try the sportsbook can download the app on iOS and Android and join the waiting list, a Fanatics spokesperson told Sports Handle.

Fanatics fires a shot at the buzzer

Previously, Fanatics Betting and Gaming indicated a June target for the Massachusetts launch. But the company went live a few days ahead of schedule, mere hours before a must-win game for the Celtics at home against the Miami Heat. After falling behind three games to zero, the Celtics won Tuesday in Miami to keep alive the possibility of the NBA’s first successful 0-3 series comeback.

Customers accessing the mobile sportsbook for the first time will receive a promotional offer of $200 in bonus bets upon placing a wager of $5 or more. Massachusetts customers can use this link now to fill out a survey and receive an invitation to access the beta.

Massachusetts legalized sports wagering on Aug. 1, 2022. Retail betting launched on Jan. 31 (in time for the Super Bowl) and online betting followed on March 10 (in time for March Madness).

Fanatics becomes the seventh mobile sportsbook to launch in the state, and the first new entry since six operators debuted on March 10.
