Marchese and Java Headline Final WSOP Online Bracelet Winners

The 2023 World Series of Poker Online came to a conclusion earlier this week. More than 32,000 entries were made across the 20 WSOPO bracelet events held on WSOP.com in Nevada and New Jersey, with over $20.4 million in prize money paid out along the way. Below is a look at the results from the final four tournaments on this year’s WSOPO schedule.

2023 WSOP Online $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em Six-Max Championship

Tom Marchese came into the 2023 WSOP as one of the most accomplished tournament players in the world who had not yet won a gold bracelet at the series. Marchese had more than $18.7 million in prior scores to his name, including seven separate seven-figure paydays.

On July 11, he finally broke through to capture his first WSOP title, topping a field of 1,170 entries to win the $1,000 buy-un no-limit hold’em six-max championship for $195,963.

Most of Marchese’s top live scores have come in super high roller tournaments outside of the series. With this win, his WSOP earnings grew to nearly $1.6 million.

Other big names that joined him toward the business end of this event included World Poker Tour champion Taylor Black (22nd), bracelet winner James Gilbert (10th), bracelet winner Guy Dunlap (4th), and two-time bracelet winner Connor Drinan (3rd).

2023 WSOP Online $2,000 Freezeout Championship

A total of 551 entries were made in the $2,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em freezeout championship, creating a prize pool of $1,019,349 that was split up amongst the top 96 finishers.

Plenty of big names ran deep, including two-time bracelet winner Nipun Java (20th), Thomas Boivin (17th), six-time bracelet winner and two-time WPT champion Daniel Negreanu (12th), two-time bracelet winner Joao Vieira (11th), 2018 WSOP main event runner-up Tony Miles (6th), bracelet winner Guy Dunlap (4th), and 2018 WSOP main event sixth-place finisher Aram Zobian (3rd).

In the end, it was France’s Julien Sitbon who emerged victorious with the title, his first bracelet, and the top prize of $176,348. This was the third-largest score yet for Sitbon, with his biggest payday being the $417,338 he earned as the runner-up in the $3,000 freezeout event during the live WSOP earlier this summer.

2023 WSOP Online $500 Summer Saver

The penultimate event of the 2023 WSOPO was the $500 buy-in no-limit hold’em ‘Summer Saver’. There were 2,156 total entries made by the time that registration officially closed, creating a $970,200 prize pool.

Christian Roberts of Venezuela ultimately captured the largest chunk of that money. He earned $154,359 and his first bracelet as the champion.

Two-time bracelet winner Drew O’Connell (17th), bracelet winner John Espositio Jr. (15th), bracelet winner Sang Lee (12th), two-time bracelet winner Jesse Lonis (9th), and bracelet winner Mark Ioli (4th) all put up strong showings in this tournament.

2023 WSOP Online $777 No-Limit Hold’em Lucky 7’s

Nipun Java earned his third career bracelet by topping a 1,554-entry field in the $777 buy-in ‘Lucky 7’s’ tournament.

The California resident was awarded $195,151 for his latest victory at the series. His previous two wins came in the 2017 WSOP $1,000 tag team no-limit hold’em event and a $1,000 buy-in online event that same summer.

Java now has nearly $3.5 million in recorded tournament earnings after this latest six-figure score. It was his fifth-largest cash ever, with his top payday being the $270,509 he secured for a runner-up finish in a $3,000 pot-limit Omaha event at the 2015 WSOP.

Joining Java at the final few tables were 2021 WSOP main event champion Espen Jorstad (26th), 2021 Wynn Millions main event winner Andrew Moreno (22nd), bracelet winner Andrew Lichtenberger (18th), Kane Kalas (16th), bracelet winner Harry Lodge (13th), bracelet winner Danny Wong (7th), bracelet winner Michael Holtz (3rd), and 2022 WSOP Circuit Bicycle Casino main event winner Michael Jozoff (2nd).
