PokerGO Tour Pot-Limit Omaha Series: Jim Collopy Wins $10,000 Mixed Event

The inaugural PokerGO Tour Pot-Limit Omaha Series features a variety of price points and formats across its nine events. Only one of the tournaments on offer included a mix of PLO varients all spread in the same event: the $10,000 buy-in mixed PLO event. The tournament utilized a rotation of standard pot-limit Omaha, pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better (PLO8), and Big O (five-card PLO8). With 86 entries, there was $860,000 in total prize money up for grabs. The largest share of that went to eventual champion Jim Collopy, who earned $206,400 for the win.

The two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner now has nearly $4.8 million in recorded tournament earnings to his name. This was his third cash of the series, with $243,800 in earnings across those scores. He was also awarded 206 PGT points for the win, enough to move him into the top five in the player of the series points race and
inside the top 30 on the season-long PGT leaderboard.

The second and final day of this event began with just six contenders remaining inside the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino Las Vegas. Tyler Johnson held the chip lead, with Collopy essentially tied with bracelet winner Dylan Weisman for second.

George Wolff was the first to fall. He got involved in a three-way all-in that saw Matt Vengrin take the low side with the wheel while Collopy made a six-high straight for the high side. Wolff earned $51,600 as the sixth-place finisher. Vengrin was still short despite winning the low side of the main pot. He was soon all-in with double-suited aces in Big O facing a double-suited 9-8-6-5-2 rundown for Brown, which improved to trip sixes by the river to scoop the pot. Vengrin took home $68,800 for his fifth-place showing.

Two-time bracelet winner Maxx Coleman’s run in this event came to an end when his flush draw and low wrap ran into the high side of the broadway wrap held by Collopy. No draws came in for either player and Collopy won with ace high, eliminating Coleman in fourth place ($86,000).

A wild hand spelled the end of Weisman’s attempt at this title. He got all-in with pocket aces leading the pocket kings of Collopy in PLO8. The flop gave Collopy top set for the lead, but an ace on the turn saw Weisman surge back in front. The case king on the river dramatically turned the tides yet again, though, giving Collopy quads and the pot. With no low possible, Weisman was sent packing in third place ($103,200).

Heads-up play began with Collopy holding better than a 3:2 chip lead over Brown. He pulled away in the early going, only to have Brown double-up to more or less get back to where the match started. The final hand arrived in a round of PLO. All of the chips got in after a flop of A92 with Collopy holding AKQ5 against the A555 of Brown. The 8 turn and 7 river kept Collopy ahead to earn him the pot and the title. Brown secured a career-high payday of $146,200 as the runner-up.
